Creating Performance

Leadership in any sporting environment can carry a broad spectrum of challenges and responsibilities. The “Sporting Leaders” Programme has been created in partnership by the William J Clinton Leadership Institute and Queen’s University Sport to broaden the management skillset of established and aspiring leaders.

HEAD COACH, QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY FC

“I have taken part in a number of leadership courses throughout my time in the education sector but I can safely say that the sporting leaders course delivered through the Clinton Leadership Institute at QUB was by far the most challenging and engaging that I have experienced. I would highly recommended any sports person to enrol in this course if they want to holistically develop their skills in leadership.”

We believe that the skills required to succeed in a sporting context are transferrable and reflect best practice in the business world.

This highly interactive programme is designed to help you understand key principles, help you reflect and equip you with the tools you need to be an impactful and effective leader capable of developing a

high performing team or organisation.

Leaders who emerge from this programme will have been exposed to critical thinking around the key leadership themes applicable in a sporting environment.

The strategies and outcomes discussed will be highly influential in shaping culture, managing teams, communicating effectively and coaching groups and individuals.

“As a coach just starting out on my journey, the opportunity to learn from more experience figures was invaluable. I enjoyed hearing the experiences of the invited guest speakers. The structure and plan of the course was excellent and has helped me to think about the sort of coach I want to be.”

Successful completion of this programme will enable you to gain an ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Man- agement qualification. ILM is the largest management training certification body in Europe.

Course content has been designed and will be de- livered by the William J Clinton Leadership Institute, Queen’s University Sport and Castlequarter coaching.
